The Viewpark Allotments
The Viewpark Allotments were created by a community group on a piece of formally derelict land, providing plots for 34 plot holders, along with community beds for school groups, the Men’s Shed group, and NHS employees. Alongside working allotments, the area also includes The Village Green, a relaxing space with seating and grassy space for play and picnics, a wildflower meadow, sensory garden, education hut, accessible paths and a well-equipped cabin with toilet, kitchen and meeting space to ensure that everyone in the community can benefit from the gardens. Over winter, the allotments had been broken into and severely vandalised, and the group had done a fantastic job of restoring them in time for the opening day photographed here.
